"So You Want To Go For A Grant?"
Registration begins January 7, 2013.
| Overview: This interactive session will introduce the basics of preparing a grant application geared to culture based funders. It will show you how to research appropriate funding sources, and how to structure your project to take advantage of existing funds. We will also review current funding deadlines. We will go in depth into the components of applications, including types of funding sources, proof of eligibility, proposal narrative, work plans, objectives and deliverables, and budgeting.
Telling a concise story about your organization or career can lead to funding without compromising your artistic goals. Building a relationship with funders can inspire two-way relationships that will put you ahead of the game.
This intensive workshop will offer answers to individual questions, and access to private consultation with grant expert Avril Helbig.

How to Apply for a Grant
from the BACF
Session Overview: The Brampton and Area Community Foundation (BACF) builds
and manages permanent endowment funds and other gifts. The BACF is Brampton's
only community foundation - and therefore the only Brampton-based community
foundation to provide funding, through grants, to charitable organizations.
Learn how your group may apply at this session and how the Brampton Arts Council
may be able to assist not-for-profit organizations that are members but not
charitable.
Speaker - James Boyd,
CEO, Brampton and Area Community Foundation. Jim has been the CEO/Executive
Director of the Brampton and Area Community Foundation since June 2004. Before
then, Jim worked in real estate, banking with the Royal Bank of Canada and
finance-brokering for importers of manufactured products. Jim's background
in sales, finance and politics provided the experience necessary to run an
organization, such as a foundation, that deals in large financial gifts, trust
agreements and adherence to Canada Revenue Agency regulatory requirements.
In Jim's time at the Brampton and Area Community Foundation, assets have increased
from $1.2 to $4.7 million; grants to charities have increased from less than
20 to over 230. Jim graduated from St. Andrew's College in 1983; University
of Toronto (Victoria College) in 1987 with a B.A. in History and Political
